Insurance for Breathwork Facilitators: UK & International 2026 Guide
Source: Nicholas Doherty
Insurance is one of the things that quietly separates accredited facilitators from everyone else. UK and international insurers issuing breathwork-specific cover use one main signal to decide eligibility: the accreditation behind your training. This article walks through what insurers actually look for, the typical UK options, and how to make sure you’re not under-insured.
Why breathwork-specific cover matters
General complementary therapy insurance often excludes “non-ordinary states” or “intense emotional release” - exactly what breathwork can produce. You need cover that explicitly names breathwork. UK insurers like Balens, Holistic Insurance Services and the major complementary-therapy specialists offer breathwork-specific cover; eligibility hinges on accreditation.
UK insurers that recognise UKBA / GPBA / IBF qualifications
In our experience, every major UK breathwork-specific insurer recognises UKBA Professional CCB Practitioner registration as eligibility for cover. Many also recognise GPBA Certified Professional Breathwork Practitioner status. IBF membership tends to be supportive evidence rather than primary eligibility.
International cover and reciprocity
For practitioners working internationally, GPBA listing is the most portable signal of eligibility. Country-specific insurers vary; ask any insurer to confirm in writing that breathwork is named in your policy.
