How to Choose the Best Breathwork Facilitator Training (Without Regret)
We won’t give you a Top 10 list of breathwork facilitator trainings. We don’t believe in them — most are ranked by who paid for the placement, not by what graduates actually go on to do. Instead, here are the eight criteria that genuinely separate good trainings from average ones, and a self-scoring worksheet you can apply to any school you’re considering, including ours.
The 8 criteria that matter
Accreditation - named bodies, with verifiable listings (UKBA, GPBA, IBF).
Total hours and length - 300–400+ hours over 1–2 years.
Supervision - structured 1:1 and group supervision, plus supervised client work.
Ethics - dedicated, hour-counted, integrated through the curriculum.
Lineage and trainers - senior trainers with their own listed accreditation.
Format fit - online, in-person, hybrid; live cohort vs self-paced.
Cohort size and culture - small enough to know everyone’s name.
Ongoing support - CPD, alumni community, supervision after graduation.
A self-scoring decision worksheet
Score each candidate school out of 5 on the eight criteria above. Be honest. The best fit isn’t the highest total; it’s the highest total on the criteria that matter most to you. Most career-changers weight accreditation, supervision, and ethics highest. Most therapists weight trauma-informed depth highest. Most international students weight format and accreditation portability highest.
Modality fit: CCB, holotropic, somatic, trauma-informed
Read our dedicated guides on conscious connected breathwork (CCB), holotropic breathwork and somatic breathwork to find the lineage that resonates. Trauma-informed isn’t a separate modality; it’s a lens, and any modern training should weave it through, not bolt it on.
Why we don’t publish a Top 10 list
Because the schools that should be on it would all refuse to pay for placement, and the ones that pay for placement aren’t usually the ones we’d recommend. The same logic applies to most influencer round-ups. Trust criteria, not lists.
