The Hearth

a breathwork space for white-bodied folks unlearning whiteness

The Hearth breathwork space specifically for white-bodied folks moving through the process of deconditioning of whiteness. The wellness industry is dripping in whiteness, and its hard for white-bodied folks to attend to whiteness in a place so determined to maintain it. I created this space so that white-bodoed folks could have a place to bring air into the conversations so deeply needed within the white-bodied community.

I didn’t realise how fearful body was when the topic of race came up, I knew there was discomfort, but I didnt realise how charged my body was.

White-bodied folks are conditioned to run away, to opt-out, to misunderstand the characteristics of whiteness. White-bodied folks may even think that these conversations are not for them, or it would be disrespectful to even talk about.

White-bodied folks are also collateral damage of the colonial paradigm, they have also been colonised - forced to forget their connection to the earth, to their mother tongues, their practices, rituals and songs. We need everyone to step in and this is a loving place to become better equipped to move through this process together.

This space is created to support students and graduates of Inspire Breathwork to move through this work together.

Second Friday of each Month

5pm PST time and 8am UK time

we all need to breathe.

we have all been colonised and are all living under the colonial imagination.

I invite us to move beyond the shame and blame and remember that no one succeeds under colonialism. The first peoples to have been colonised are those in middle Europe, those with white bodies - just because it was so long ago does not mean it did not happen.

But we have all been seduced, reduced or induced into whiteness. The values of our society are no longer rooted in our relationship to the earth or all of our relations, but rooted in productivity, status, hierarchy and money. This is what it means to live under a colonial paradigm and a capitalism paradigm.

So, moving beyond identity politics, we must remember that we all suffer under it. That this work is not about tackling the enemy, the bad one over there but understanding that we are swimming and breathing the air of it all. We embody it.

After the murder of George Floyd in 2020 and then the lockdowns, I decided to offer breathwork sessions exclusively for POC and mixed race people and it was such a relief and respite to the community. And I didnt anticipate how much white-bodied folks also need this.

This space is designed to focus on processing racial conditioning, deepening awareness, and becoming more accountable in a way that’s embodied and sustainable.
